Light snow fell softly onto trees begging to bloom. Skies were grey, soft, and everything was blanketed in a fresh winter wonderland despite a date that suggested warmer weather…
Fortunately for Kayla & Dylan, their wedding was an evening wedding and temperatures rose as the day progressed making it possible to do portraits outside.
As I made my way into the hotel room to start shooting, Kayla’s bridal suite was a flurry of commotion, giggling girls, and music blasting on the ipad. Kayla looked beautiful with her dark hair perfectly styled, makeup that was freshly applied and she began getting ready as I shot some of her details. Her bridesmaids, most of them her sisters, were all busy getting ready and the bridal suite was in constant motion with family coming in and out to greet the bride and catch a glimpse of her getting ready!
I divided my time between Kayla and her groom Dylan. Both of them were excited and Dylan’s suite was just as busy with his groomsmen getting ready, taking in celebratory shots in anticipation for a good evening, and family wishing Dylan well before the wedding!
Time flew and once ready, we shot over to a separate location in historic Newburgh, NY in order to shoot their first look and portraits. Kayla & Dylan’s timing was perfect and it was sweet to watch them see each other’s reactions as they caught their first look of one another! We spent 30 minutes shooting and enjoying this special time before the actual wedding craziness! And the best part??!! The weather held out long enough so that we could get their special portraits in before rain took over again and forced us back indoors!
The rest of the wedding was pure fun! Kayla & Dylan celebrated their evening with a brief, but memorable ceremony and I had a great time shooting their very lively and wild reception! Everyone got up to dance frequently and the bride & groom stole the show with lots of dancing and they knew how to command a crowd!
