Great River Golf Club, Milford, CT

Grey skies and pockets of showers remained in place as I pulled into the Great River Golf Club. Located in the suburbs of Milford, CT., this gorgeous venue boasted a golf course that could rival any course played on the PGA Tour. Sprawling hillsides, pockets of green expanses and a waterfall to boot, this beautiful venue made for a lovely setting for Fatima & Ken’s May nuptials.
Fatima’s bridal suite was a bevy of commotion and excitement as I entered. Fatima’s mom and friends were helping the bride as she got ready and I began my time shooting. Unlike most couples I shoot, Fatima’s religion and cultural practices made it so that she would wear a hijab along with her wedding dress. But prior to donning everything, Fatima wanted to share a ‘first look’ with Ken, her betrothed prior to their ceremony.
Ken’s expression was priceless. His eyes lit up with excitement when he saw his stunning bride. Family members stayed back as we all watched the couple embrace and share sentiments and excitement for their ceremony. Mom shed tears as she watched her daughter.
Along with various family members, Fatima finished getting ready and a beautiful hijab of the softest white fabric was adorned and fastened into place. Fatima’s look was angelic and the additional white fabric added a whimsical touch that left everyone in awe.
The rain made it so that Ken & Fatima’s ceremony was moved inside, but the high ceilings and tastefully elegant room made for a gorgeous ceremony and kept everything feeling light and bright, a reflection of the mood felt by everyone! A simple ceremony presided and the couple smiled through it all with eyes for only each other.
Everything else about this day was perfection! It may have rained intermittently, but it didn’t stop this couple from getting those portraits that every couple loves! I let my hair frizz up for it all and was happy to do so to capture Ken & Fatima by the waterfall, taking sweet portraits that clearly showed their love for one another.
For those who wonder how it’s done on a rainy day, let Ken & Fatima be inspiration that rain does not have to mean boring portraits or ruin your wedding experience! With the right photographer, every couple can still have a beautiful wedding experience and a gorgeous collection!
