Lavallette, New Jersey
Ali and Jeff
Technically, it was the last day of summer. Perhaps, had Ali & Jeff decided to have their wedding elsewhere, we may have felt the first stirrings of fall. But here on the beach, the sun shone bright and the temps made it feel like a warm August day.
Typically, I shoot in and around the Hudson Valley area in New York. That’s kinda my jam. But today, my old school friend was getting married and she had asked me to come out to the beach in New Jersey to capture her wedding. She and Jeff currently reside in California, but Ali had spent her summers at the beach in Lavallette. So it made sense that she would choose the very same beach to hold her nuptials.
In between hugs from high school friends, we shot Ali as she got ready. Traces of her grandfather’s presence could be felt and his memory was incorporated into everything. From sentimental pieces embedded in her bouquet, to the old fob watch he wore, Ali honored his memory in many touching ways.
The Wedding
Friends and family made the trek out to Lavallette in order to share this special day with Ali & Jeff. Guests sat and stood barefoot in the sand as Ali & Jeff recited their vows. The sun shone bright and the waves ebbed softly. Married under a temporary arch erected only an hour before, Ali & Jeff’s wedding was perfect.
Family formals were done on the beach and the sun set peacefully as Ali & Jeff enjoyed private moments reflecting on their journey. THey walked hand in hand. They laughed. Kissed. They even cried. As a photographer, it was absolutely sweet to work with them. As a friend, it was even more special.
Ali and Jeff continued to enjoy their wedding at a local spot for their reception! There, we all enjoyed good laughs, good food, and good fun! And yes – I did too! I mean, I did go to high school with her!
